now i have been attempting to resize java games for people in my own time, so here is a step-by-step procedure written by yours truly, on HOW TO RESIZE JAVA GAMES.... YOURSELF..
You will need: a PC and a valid version of WINrar
The rest is quite simply common sense
Step 1:
Save the java game you want to resize onto your PC (via downloading from the dotSIS games forum of course ).
Step 2:
Open the rar file of the java game (you will need WINrar), it will reveal all the files of the game itself, most important of all is the META-INF folder, which when opened reveals the MANIFEST.MF file.
Step 3:
Open the MANIFEST.MF file and it will further reveal the details of the game such as: Manifest version, Midlet Name, version etc.... (Word of caution: do NOT edit these details as they are critical to making the game work). Now.. Drag the manifest.mf file onto your desktop, so you can then attempt to open it with Notepad. (Note: once opened with Notepad, it will always open with notepad, so no need to drag it onto the desktop again after the first time, just edit straight from the rar file and overwrite previous details)
Step 4:
This is where it gets sorta tricky, but it is quite simple once you get the gist of it. At the bottom of the details shown in manifest.mf, type this in:
(Now this is only an example of converting size from, say.. an N73 which is 240x320 in resolution, to an N80 which is 352x416 in resolution)
Type the following:
Nokia-MIDlet-Original-Display-Size: 240,320
Nokia-MIDlet-Target-Display-Size: 352,416
(the Original display size is the initial size of the java game itself, and the Target display size is the size you want it to be resized to. now this will work vice versa if you just swap the screen resolution details around, just keep in mind you need to know the ORIGINAL display size of the game you are resizing, and YOUR phones display resolution, being the TARGET display size)
Step 5: Now, save the MANIFEST.MF file you've edited onto the desktop after typing in the resizing details, then drag it back to the initial MANIFEST.MF file in the META-INF folder, which is in the java game rar folder.
Overwrite the initial manifest details with your newly edited resizing details and VIOLA!!! You have a resized game to send to your phone via PC Suite, Bluetooth or whatever other mobile phone interactivity devices your computer has…
i hope this guide has helped people in their quest to learn how to resize java games lol. if anyone has any further questions, or needs a bit more help, dont hesitate to message me and ask
